Brendan McKernan


Brendan McKernan is a co-founder of Agencourt Bioscience Corporation and Agencourt Personal Genomics. Until both firms were acquired, he was Vice President of Operations. In this capacity, he oversaw the implementation and execution of the company’s operational strategy.

Massachusetts-based Agencourt Biosciences Corporation is a leading provider of nucleic acid purification products and genomic services for life science research. Agencourt Personal Genomics is a leading developer of DNA sequencing equipment.

Before founding Agencourt, McKernan was employed by the Packard Bioscience Company, where he helped to implement world-class manufacturing techniques. McKernan holds a bachelor’s in management science from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa., and an MBA from Rensselaer’s Lally School of Management and Technology.

While at Agencourt McKernan was an active member of Oracle Corporation’s Advisory board for their hosting services business. While at Rensselaer, McKernan received the Delmar W. Karger Award in Management for outstanding academic and leadership achievements. McKernan was named the 2006 William F. Glaser ’53 Rensselaer Entrepreneur of the Year.

Mckernan is currently a member of the Avon Old Farms School and Rensselaer Lally School of Managements Advisory council. McKernan is a judge for the Lemelson Program which celebrates and supports inventors and entrepreneurs in order to strengthen social and economic life.
